..in which Amy dies, victim of some foul play, and finds herself in a purgatory-like dimension where she witnesses an alien menace chewing through various strands and threads of existence. Mary, left with the living but still connected to Amy, entreats the respected/reclusive professor to help stop the mystery plague ravaging the human race.
